Dear P.S. 130 family:
Our ninth PTA Read-a-Thon will be held Friday, January 15–Friday, January 29, 2021!
This fun event raises money to provide important resources directly to our school, including our literacy programs. Last year we raised over $8,000! We’re hoping to earn even more this year, especially as Covid-19 has limited our in-person fundraising events this year.
We will still have a Reading Night to kick off the event on Zoom! Mark your calendars for Jan 15, 2021. There will be author, teacher, and student readings. There will be prizes. There will be dancing! Please register in advance here.
Come dressed as your favorite characters or in your PJs!
Character Day will be Jan 27 (Cohort A) & Jan 28th (Cohort B & Remote)!
Here’s how it works:
- January 4–15: Gather sponsors on THIS PLEDGE SHEET. Sponsors can pledge a specific amount (1 cent, 10 cents, 25 cents, $1, etc.) per minute read, or a flat amount ($10, $25, $50, etc.), or a per minute amount with a cap (for example, 10 cents per minute up to $50 total). Please reach out if you have any questions!
- January 15–January29: Read like your pants are on fire!!! Parents, please help your child keep track of the minutes read outside of school each day during the Read-a-Thon on THIS LOG SHEET. You can count minutes your child reads independently, or when read together or aloud to your child. Minutes read for homework count too. Only count minutes read during the Read-a-Thon days, outside of school. Use a watch or timer—don’t guess!
- January30–February 7: Collect pledge amounts from your sponsors. You can submit your collected funds by PayPal using the button below
- January30–February 12: Scan your reading logs and pledge sheets and email them to the Read-a-Thon committee.
